Screen each job application against the requirements that matter
Add reusable Yes/No, dropdown, and multi-select screening questions to a job, route applications that miss a requirement to Not Eligible, and keep every answer and reason available for review.
Set screening requirements for one job
Open a job and use its Screening Questions card to add application questions. A Yes/No question can require Yes or No. A dropdown can accept one or several configured choices, and a multi-select can pass when the applicant chooses at least one eligible answer. RecruitIQ makes an eligibility question required automatically, so an applicant cannot skip a rule that will determine the application outcome.
The compact question editor keeps optional help text tucked away until it is needed, places answer choices before screening rules, and summarizes the outcome in plain language beside Save. A live preview shows exactly how the question will appear in the position application.
Applicants see those questions directly within the position application alongside the standard contact and resume fields, without a separate screening-questions heading. Required questions use the same plain asterisk treatment as the other required application fields.
Choose Create New Question to write one for the job, or Choose Previous Question to search questions already used by the organization. Previous questions are copied into the job. Updating that copy later does not unexpectedly change another job’s application form.
The screening-question builder currently offers Yes/No, dropdown, and multi-select because each has a clear answer set. Existing open-ended questions remain readable for compatibility, but text, date, number, and file types are hidden from new selection for now.
Keep unsuccessful applications visible and explain why
When an applicant misses an automatic requirement, RecruitIQ still creates or matches the candidate and saves the application, resume, answers, job, and application date. The application appears in a separate Not Eligible lane with the exact failed answer and question instead of entering the normal job pipeline.
Eligibility belongs to the application, not the candidate. Someone who lacks a requirement for one opening remains a normal candidate who can be considered for another job.
Override an automatic result with a clear audit trail
A recruiter can choose Override and move to pipeline when context supports a different decision. RecruitIQ moves the applicant into the first active pipeline stage while preserving the original screening reason and recording who overrode it, when it happened, and the destination stage.
A failed screening rule does not delete or hide the application, reject the candidate globally, or send an automatic rejection message. Scoring, conditional follow-ups, numeric or date thresholds, and advanced all-of or exclusion logic for multi-select questions are not included yet.
