Set the interview time as you move a candidate

Moving a candidate into an interview stage now asks for the interview date and time and puts it in that day’s meetings, with or without Google Calendar. You can skip it and move them as before.

A prompt at the moment it matters

When you move a candidate into an interview stage on a job’s pipeline, a window now asks when the interview is. Click the date field to see the next two weeks of weekdays. Pick a day and its times appear in the same spot, every 30 minutes from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a back button to choose a different day. The picker eases open, the days slide into the times and back, and it eases closed once you pick a time, so the window grows and shrinks smoothly instead of snapping. Pick a time and press Schedule. The time is saved with the candidate, and on that day it shows up under Meetings today on your Dashboard. The window also shows where the candidate is moving from and to.

Once saved, the time is also written into the candidate’s Activity. Open the candidate’s profile and the job’s history shows a line such as “Interview set for Tue, Oct 20 · 2:00 PM”, with who set it, so the date does not live only on the Dashboard. The job’s own Activity shows the same line. Setting a new time adds another line rather than replacing the old one.

It applies to any stage that collects a date and time. Interview stages do by default, and your pipeline settings can switch any stage on or off. Moving a candidate to any other stage works exactly as it did.

Works without Google Calendar

You do not need Google Calendar for this. The time is saved either way and appears in Meetings today on the day of the interview.

If it is not connected, a Connect calendar link sits at the bottom left of the window. If your Google Calendar is connected, the window also offers Add to my Google Calendar, which is on by default. Under it, Add a Google Meet link puts a video link in the event, and Email the invite sends Google’s calendar invitation to the candidate’s email address. Meet and the invite are off until you turn them on, so nothing is emailed to a candidate unless you choose it.

You can always skip

Press Skip to move the candidate without saving a time, and set it later from the Dashboard. Closing the window with the X or the Escape key cancels the move altogether, and the candidate stays where they were.

Boundaries to know about

If the candidate moves but the time cannot be saved, or Google cannot add the event, you see a message saying exactly that, and the candidate stays moved. The event is added to your own calendar. While you are using Switch User, nothing is added to a Google Calendar, though the time is still saved.

The window appears when you move one candidate at a time on a job. Moving several selected candidates together does not ask, and the stage picker on a candidate’s own profile page does not ask yet.
