Find candidates, jobs, and companies from the main menu

Search the records you can access, preview their saved details, and open them from anywhere in RecruitIQ.

Open the menu and start typing

Click the RecruitIQ wordmark or press Shift+J to open the main menu. The search field is ready to type in. An empty search shows your usual pages and tools; entering text shows up to five matches each for Candidates, Jobs, and Companies, in that order.

Find candidates and companies by name, or jobs by title and company name. Every word you type must match, and names starting with your full search appear first. Use Arrow Up and Arrow Down to move through the groups, hover a result to select it, and press Enter to open it. Escape closes the menu and returns focus to its button. Opening a candidate preserves a route back to the page you were on.

Preview the record before opening it

On wider screens, the selected result has a preview beside it. Candidates can show their title, location, jobs, and last activity; jobs can show their company, saved status, pipeline count, and recruiter; companies can show open jobs, location, contacts, and last activity. Only available saved details appear.

The preview loads after a short pause on a result and does not hold up keyboard movement. On smaller screens, the preview is hidden and the same results still open the full record.

Fast lookups within your existing access

The first menu lookup loads a compact list for your account and organization. Once loaded, results update in memory as you type. Initial loading, refreshing that list, and loading a preview need an internet connection. The list is cached briefly, so recently edited records can take a few minutes to appear. If the initial lookup fails, choose Try again in the menu.

Search and previews respect your existing record and organization permissions. Records and types you cannot access are excluded, along with archived or deleted records. This is a name and title lookup; it does not search resume text or start an AI Search. Use the Candidates list or AI Search when you need a broader search.
