Know when your message was sent

After a successful send or reply, the composer closes, an Email sent confirmation appears, and Activity opens the saved conversation. If switching sender accounts creates a separate conversation, Activity opens that conversation instead of leaving you on the older message.

New messages have a soft green background while you read the conversation. On your first visit, only the latest message is highlighted; later visits highlight new replies. Seen state is remembered for your account in this browser and does not change Gmail read status or send read receipts.

If Activity cannot refresh after sending, a separate warning confirms the email was sent and asks you to refresh rather than resend. A send failure keeps your draft available. Sent means the email provider accepted the message, not that the recipient has read it.
