Run AI Search without leaving your candidate list

Start a background AI Search from Candidates V2 and keep working until results are ready.

Search while you keep working

Enter a description in the taller Candidates V2 search box and choose AI Search. The compact teal-edged button appears once you enter text. Hover over the information icon for a short explanation, or open it with a click or keyboard. Dismiss hides the icon and remembers that choice for your user and organization in this browser. The AI search uses your typed text, not the list filters, and returns up to 25 ranked candidates. It is separate from regular keyword search.

From Candidates, a small progress pill appears at the bottom right immediately when you click, before the server confirms acceptance. Loading pills are hidden while you are on the AI Search page, where progress appears inline. Leave that page and background progress appears; return and the pills hide again without stopping your searches. This also works while a search is still starting.

On the AI Search page, a centered dot-matrix orb accompanies Reading resumes and ranking candidates, with a 2–4 minute estimate below. This is an estimate, not a deadline or a percentage-complete indicator. Queued, retrying, and saved-search loading states keep their own messages. Reduced-motion preferences show a still orb, and animation pauses when the browser tab is hidden. You can still leave and keep working.

The pill shows a shortened version of your search text; hover or focus for the full text. Once accepted, it opens the saved search. Use the minus icon to minimize progress to just a spinner, then click the spinner to expand it. The minimized choice lasts for this search while you browse, including leaving and returning to AI Search, but resets on a page reload. Completion and error notifications still appear. When the search finishes, a notification shows the candidate count and a View results button.

If a connection problem prevents confirmation, AI Search automatically retries confirmation once using the same request, so recovery does not create a second search. Access, validation and rate-limit errors are not automatically retried. If confirmation still fails, the pending pill is removed and an error advises checking Search History before retrying. The AI Search page shows this error inline without a duplicate error toast. A failed or timed-out background search is identified separately, not shown as a successful zero-result search. Repeated clicks while a request is pending do not create duplicate submissions.

AI Search remains available to owners and recruiters within their organization. Existing access checks and background processing still apply. Reduced-motion preferences stop the decorative rotation.
